The 3D Security Initiative promotes a new vision for US and global security. Our 3D security refers to the 3 pillars of foreign policy: development, diplomacy, and defense.

We take a 3D approach to human and environmental security. We promote conflict prevention and peacebuilding strategies to Members of Congress, the US military and the US public.

  • A Policy Voice for Civil Society Organizations in Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding

    Civil society builds security from the ground up by playing essential roles in conflict prevention, stabilization and reconstruction. The 3D Security Initiative offers the following resources to the U.S. policy-making community:

    • -Providing access to a global network of frontline conflict prevention experts
    • -Publishing concise policy briefs on conflict prevention and 3D security
    • -Facilitating multi-stakeholder roundtables and civil-military conferences

     

    MISSION STATEMENT:

    The mission of the 3D Security Initiative is to promote conflict prevention and peacebuilding investments and strategies in US policymaking.   We will do this by fostering greater recognition within the US government of international and local civil society perspectives on conflict prevention, principled negotiation, and sustainable development in security policymaking.

     VISION STATEMENT:

    The vision of the 3D Security Initiative is to build reliance upon the “first resort” strategies of development and diplomacy so as to prevent the “last resort” strategies of US military action.  We will do this by demonstrating the way U.S. interests in security, good governance and democracy are built from the ground up by civil society groups working at conflict prevention.
